Overview

Designing the website for Majlis Mohamed bin Zayed

The Majlis Mohamed bin Zayed website was a project commissioned by the Presidential Office to create a digital presence for His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. As the creative lead, I was responsible for defining and directing the visual identity of the site, ensuring it embodied both dignity and modernity while adhering to an extremely minimal brand framework.

About Project

The Beauty (and Burden) of Restraint

Our main challenge was creative restraint. The brand guidelines were deliberately sparse—few colors, limited typography, and minimal iconography—yet the client wanted a site that felt elevated and presidential. Over several rounds of feedback, it became clear that our initial artistic direction needed to evolve into something more understated and timeless.

Iteration as Diplomacy

We explored seven full iterations of the homepage, gradually refining layouts, button systems, and spatial rhythm to balance elegance with clarity. I led the creative direction, working closely with UI designers and developers to experiment within the narrow constraints—testing variations in line weight, white-space ratios, and motion pacing until we achieved a visual harmony that felt both modern and ceremonial.
Each iteration served as a micro-study in how subtle UI adjustments—like refined hover states or adaptive grid systems—could transform the perception of authority and simplicity.
